Side Projects

Emily

Emily was the name of a singer who had put together a solo album consisting adult  of contemporary Christian songs. She really had a great voice. She was also a member of Clovis Hills and so when she decided to tour to support the album she asked me to play drums. We did several gigs at various churches and had a great time. She’s really a sweet gal and has a terrific voice. It was a very enjoyable project.

Mark Eaton Band

Mark was a friend of Bill Schnee who I played with in Liar’s Grin. Mark is a killer blues guitarist and had lined up a gig opening for Edgar Winter at the Tower Theater here in Fresno, so he needed to put together a band. He asked Bill to play bass and Bill recruited me for drums. We rehearsed for a few weeks and then played the gig. Despite some technical difficulties with Mark’s guitar at the start of the show, we finished the set strong and got a great response from the crowd. It was a pretty great experience for me especially since I grew up listening to Edgar Winter as a kid.

Alan Yerxa Band

Alan and I have somewhat similar stories given the fact that we both played the hair metal scene back in the day, we both came to Christ and we both ended up at Clovis Hills. Alan has been one of those guys that I just admire because he’s a no B.S., unpretentious kind of guy. He’s also one of the best guitarists I know. So when he told me he had recorded an album and wanted me to play with him to help him promote it, I didn’t hesitate for a second. We played a bunch of gigs in support of that album and it was always a good time. Alan and I continue to hang out and I hope to be able to jam with him again soon.
