Today I crossed a new milestone. 191 lbs. That’s 18 pounds lost since I re-started my P90X workout on December 27th, 2010. The weight loss is starting to slow, which tells me I’m probably almost done losing weight, and now it will become about becoming more fit and adding lean muscle.
I can’t really explain how good it feels to not be encumbered by that excess weight. I feel great. I feel energetic. I feel strong. My clothes are no longer tight and uncomfortable, in fact I’m probably going to have to buy some new clothes because these ones are feeling baggy.
Most of all though, I feel healthy. My diet has no caffeine and I’ve really been limiting my alcohol intake. These are, after all, drugs when you think about it. One’s a stimulant and one’s a depressant and you don’t need to be sucking down Rock Stars or getting stoned drunk to feel the effect on your body. I think just being more even keel during the week has made a huge difference in how I feel.
The other thing that has such a huge effect is just eating smaller meals. Leaving a meal feeling stuffed is awful. We eat just enough to satisfy us now, and so I never have that gross, slothful feeling after meals. The other side of that though is that you have to eat more. I eat 5 or 6 times a day and that takes a little planning and getting used to, but again, it keeps you from experiencing those peaks and valleys in mood and energy.
So the journey continues!
