Here in sunny central California it rains about 9 inches a year, so we have a LOT of sunny days. But this memorial day weekend we were completely rained out. This sucked because I had a ton of stuff planned. I was going to gut my backyard and totally prep it for new plants and trees. Needless to say, that didn’t happen.
Now to those folks who live in perpetually rainy areas who are calling me a pansy for going into hibernation because of a little water on the ground… I’ll remember that when it hits 80 in your neck of the woods and you’re dropping like flies but it’s 108° here and we’re out sunbathing.
Anyway, my weekend consisted mainly of TV and napping. I don’t think I’ve ever done so much of either over the course of three days as I did this weekend. I have to admit too that even though I’m not a sports guy at all, I’m really getting into the UFC and lately I’ve been hooked on the NHRA drags. I was talking to Michelle this weekend about maybe buying a used bike, tricking it out, and racing it. That would be a freaking blast. We’ll see.
The other thing I did this weekend was buy a TON of music. The winner of the weekend was Dokken. Remember them? They have a new album out and it’s actually killer! Straight up rock and roll, man. Good stuff. The album is called Lightning Strikes Again. Go get it. I also bought an album from a band called Symphony X, which is a kind of Dream Theater style progressive rock band. They are really an incredible band and something different to listen to. They are metal, but have a lot of really intense arrangements, odd time signatures, etc. Definitely not background music you put on whle you’re washing to car or something. This stuff is meant to be really listened to. I also bought a few other albums, but honestly, I was so unimpressed that I forget now what they were.
Anyway, hope everyone had a good weekend. Next weekend is going to be sunny so I’ll definitely be out of the house!
